"I absolutely love Tracy’s classes and especially the recent ’30 Days to Creative Freedom’. I found that painting every day for 30 days really lit my creative fire. It allowed me to experiment, let go and be amazed each day. It was also a bit of an emotional journey, letting go of some images I really loved, but also learning that I can create interesting and meaningful images again and again. What I really love is Tracy’s relaxed approach and her expertise."

Do the insides of your mind sound like this?
I get overwhelmed by all the choices — colour, marks, composition… help!
I don’t know what to do next when a painting hits that awkward middle stage.
My inner critic is VERY chatty. And rude!
I don’t know what to do next when a painting hits that awkward middle stage...
I have so many ideas… I just don’t trust myself to follow them.
Take a deep breath.
You are not alone
and here’s how I know.
After 25 years of teaching thousands of students around the world, I’ve seen the same challenges come up again and again; the ones that quietly drain confidence, stall momentum, and make the creative process feel harder than it needs to be.
Here are the three struggles I hear most often, and exactly why this 30-day journey was created:
Nº 1: Loosening Up
So many artists want to feel more free, but a fear of “messing it up” stops them from taking bold steps.
That’s why we paint on one canvas for 30 days: it gives you permission to make marks, change direction, experiment wildly, and discover how resilient a painting (and you) can be. Loosening up becomes a natural, daily practice.
Nº 2: Comparing Themselves to Others
It’s human nature to look around and think, “They’re doing it better than I could.”
But in this journey, you’ll see me move through the awkward stages, the doubts, and the happy accidents. All in real time. You’ll learn how normal those moments actually are.
This gives you a judgment-free space to explore your own unique voice, day by day.
Nº 3: Infusing Their Art with Joy and Play
Many artists focus so much on the end result that they forget to enjoy the making.
By showing up for just one session a day, you’ll reconnect with the simple pleasure of being in the moment; making marks, following curiosity, and allowing each layer to surprise you.
That’s where joy, playfulness, and creative freedom start to bloom.
This is exactly why I created 30 Days to Creative Freedom; to walk beside you, layer by layer, through every wobble, discovery, and breakthrough. You don’t have to navigate your creative journey alone.
“I first discovered Tracy Verdugo‘s workshops during Covid after seeing a post of her cheerful, happy paintings. I purchased her first workshop and was immediately hooked. Since then, I’ve bought every class she’s offered, including her book, Paint Mojo.
Tracy spoke directly to my tendency to criticize myself, and gave me the confidence to paint freely. Most importantly, she is a truly great teacher. Because of her guidance, I now get paid for my art, have work displayed in a gallery, and receive commissions.
Above all, her teaching has given me a place – a happy place - to go to. I even get to share Tracy's methods with my grand children, which is a pure joy! When I purchased the 30 Day Challenge, I watched all the lessons first, and then began to paint. During that time, a friend asked me to paint a large canvas of a goat for her living room. I used several lessons from the 30 Day Challenge to create it. Soon after, Another friend, who saw the goat, commissioned me to paint a donkey. Once again, I relied on what I learned in the challenge. I have since received many compliments on these paintings – all thanks to the confidence, skills, and inspiration I’ve gained from Tracy and a 30 Day Challenge.”

DURING THE COURSE
You’ll learn how to:
• Show up with ease and curiosity each day
(even when you’re not sure what comes next)
• Slip into a natural flow state by trusting your intuition
(instead of overthinking every brushstroke)
• Find beauty in the awkward, messy middle stages
(and keep going instead of starting over)
• Experiment boldly with layers, tools, and techniques
(because one canvas over 30 days is the perfect playground)
• Focus on joy, courage, and momentum — not perfection
(and quiet those negative, comparative voices)
Hi, I’m Tracy!
I've been teaching students to loosen up and find joy through art for more than 25 years.
When I was a kid, I believed that art was a special gift given only to a select few people at birth. In my family, it was my brother Jason who seemed to have that magic art gene; he would spend hours sprawled on the floor sketching and, whenever I tried to do the same, my work would inevitably end up in the bin.
But when I was 33, I joined a local art class and my whole world shifted.
Within two weeks, I had the epiphany that art wasn't just for those lucky few. I realized that creativity encompassed all parts of ourselves, that creating things—art, gardens, stories, games, you name it—was actually our birthright, and that spending time creating and making art can actually enhance every single aspect of our lives!
I started teaching as soon as I could, gathering the neighborhood kids into my garden shed, and in the two decades since, I’ve been honing my skills. My mission is to bring more joy, more play, more confidence, and more ease to the lives of my students (now from 80+ countries around the world!) through artmaking.
Over the years I’ve created many in-depth classes, but I realised something essential was missing... a way for students to actually see what the real creative process looks like day after day. Not a polished tutorial, but the honest, unedited experience of showing up, navigating the messy bits, and trusting your way forward.
So I created 30 Days to Creative Freedom, a gentle, intimate, over-the-shoulder journey where you’ll follow me as I paint on the same canvas for 30 days. It’s a chance to build momentum, grow your creative courage, and discover just how freeing it feels to stay with a painting (and yourself) all the way through.
And so here it is.
What's Inside?
30 Days to Creative Freedom
Instead of 30 separate lessons, you’ll receive 30 real-time videos that follow the entire evolution of one painting.
Each session is around 15-35 minutes and shows a different creative moment unfolding naturally.
Inside the daily videos, you’ll learn how to:
✔ Start with playful ease
✔ Build layers that invite curiosity
✔ Navigate uncertainty with confidence
✔ Let intuition lead your decisions
✔ Add marks, colour, and contrast with freedom
✔ Stay with challenging stages instead of starting over
✔ Celebrate progress over perfection
“For me, feeling protective of work in progress is a big hindrance to artistic growth. When I'm afraid of "ruining it", I don't experiment and explore. 30 Days to Creative Freedom provides the antidote. I committed to the process and painted through several paintings I really liked. That felt brave and good and freeing. I've learned a lot about purposeful layering and taking the "what if" chances. Tracy's guidance as she goes through the 30 days herself is honest and gentle. I got so much out of this class that I plan do it again.”

Frequently Asked Questions
How much time is required?
Each daily video is short and digestible — usually 15-35 minutes.
You can simply watch, or watch and paint along in your own time.
Most students find that the daily rhythm makes it incredibly easy to stay consistent. And fair warning: once you get going, you may want to stay in your studio longer than planned… in the best possible way!
Are there captions/subtitles?
We suggest using Chrome to view these videos if you wish to view captions or translate them into another language. There are live caption and live translation settings automatically built into Chrome.

I don’t have many art supplies. Can I still do these lessons?
Absolutely.
This course is all about resourcefulness, curiosity, and improvisation.
You can use whatever you have on hand; acrylics, inks, crayons, collage papers, pastels, mark-making tools… or simple household objects.
There is no special supply list, because the journey is yours to personalize.
Of course, if you love art supplies (like I do!), you’re welcome to dig into your stash and experiment freely.
I already bought another one of your online courses. How is this different?
Most of my courses teach specific techniques, themes, or projects.
This one is entirely about the process — the real, unpolished, daily experience of creating art and building creative momentum.
It’s not a step-by-step tutorial.
It’s 30 days of painting on the same canvas, navigating the doubts, the messy middles, and the breakthroughs together.
If you want creative confidence, consistency, intuition, and flow, this is the course that changes everything.

Can I exhibit or sell the work I create in this workshop?
Yes, I encourage it!
The whole point is for you to develop your own artistic voice.
If your finished piece is clearly your own interpretation, you’re welcome to show or sell it.
I simply ask that pieces that look very close to my demo painting not be sold or exhibited as original work.
And of course, please don’t teach or repurpose the course content itself. The methods and videos are part of my intellectual property.
Can I teach these tutorials in my own classes?

“I want to say again how much I have been enjoying 30 Days to Creative Freedom. I’ve painted for years, but this class has taught me more than I ever thought possible. I’ve learned how to let go to make room for something better. I’ve also fallen in love with various forms of acrylics, not my usual medium. I guess you could say I’ve become comfortable outside my comfort zone. Thanks a bunch!”

Still need convincing? Let's hear from some more of my beautiful students ✿
“I found the 30 Day Challenge to be exactly that - a challenge! I have been working on feeling comfortable with the messy middle where a piece of art can become "worse" before it gets better. This is what attracted me to the course. The messy part was hard, but also freeing, and some happy accidents helped me finally come up with something unique. There are parts of my paintings that I love and parts that I'm still unsure about, but I learned a lot about creativity and letting the paint flow - literally, as I did it all with acrylic inks, which are very new to me. If you're feeling a little stuck or want to try something new, this is a fun way to let go and see what happens!”
- Jackie Hudson, artworks below
“This course changed my creative practice completely. I have learned to walk away from my session when it feels like work or upsetting and not to be attached to the outcome. This has freed me up to show up and experiment freely, to have have fun and play. I now also know what my preferences are and am able to put them all together to create something I love.
This is not a step by step course. Tracy takes you along her journey of painting 30 days on the same canvas and shares many of her techniques. You will have so many things to try out, which might even spark new ideas. You will never ever have a reason to feel stuck again.
If all of this sounds great to you, then this is the course for you.”

“When I started Tracy’s 30 Day course I wasn’t prepared for the difference it would make to how I thought about my approach to art, and my approach to life and work.
It really is a case of having faith in both the process and yourself, leaping in feet first and enjoying the journey.
2025 had been a tough year and my mental health had really suffered, so had my enjoyment of painting in watercolours, and to be honest I was feeling quite lost and uncertain.
I’d tried a few of Tracy’s other courses and enjoyed them, and the introduction to new materials like acrylics and inks, and so the 30 day challenge felt like something I’d like to try, and it would give me something to focus on for a month. And it came at the right time.
Over the month of December I worked my way through the course and honestly, it really changed me. My biggest learnings were:
- It's ok to not know the end goal. Have faith in yourself and make your mark each day.
- How to recognise what makes you happy and what doesn't and moving on from the latter whilst keeping some windows open to remember what does.
- It's ok to hold on to things and process them for a few days, but eventually you have paint over them and start afresh.
- It doesn't matter if its not "technically" correct or perfect. The question to ask yourself isn't "is it right", the question is "Does it make you happy"
- Don't be scared to be a child and play. Its been lovely exploring the child within and giving him a voice again.
I’ve started to have an imaginary paintbrush in my mind, and when tough days happen I now paint over and let go of the worst bits in my mind and keep windows of the bits that make me happy, or I can do something about whilst painting over the noise of the world that I can’t do anything with.
I love the process of finding images on the canvas, it really has tapped in to that inner playful side that I thought maybe I’d lost.
So when I say this course changed my art and my life, I’m not kidding.”
